The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application system.

Applications are now open and will close on fifteen December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant will have to fulfill the subsequent criteria:

• Be a South African citizen or copyright who comes from a house by using a combined gross residence income that does not exceed R350 000 for every annum.

• People with disabilities qualify if their combined household profits would not exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients immediately qualify for funding and need not post any proof of earnings.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open to all South African citizens and permanent inhabitants from households with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for each annum.

NSFAS only funds people who are studying or plan to research nsfas status at a public university or TVET college in South Africa.
